Julius Dobos writes living, breathing Hollywood filmscores, somewhat
of a paradox when you consider his Hungarian background. Yet, upon
closer examination, his works reveal a distinctly European flavor,
a legacy of his solid musical education, which has helped him to form and define his personal musical criteria
and his own, distinctive style.
When composing for a film, Julius writes a theme for each
of the main characters and then modifies and arranges them as
dictated by the dramatical needs of the movie. He composes his themes on the piano first, then transfers
them to paper or records them into the computer.
While Julius prefers to work with live orchestra or musicians, when the budget doesn't make it possible, he uses the latest sampling technology and state of the art equipment to create a live-sounding performance. In some cases you may encounter unique sounds and use of vintage synthesizers in his scores.
